CONTRAST MEDIA AGENTS

Contrast media agents may either be injected into a blood vessel or swallowed by the patient and are used to improve images produced by X-Rays, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Ultrasound. Contrast media agents are classified as prescription drugs and are subject to all the rules and regulations pertaining to pharmaceuticals. Contrast media agents are not dyes that permanently discolor internal organs. Rather, these substances temporarily change the way x-rays or other imaging tools interact with the body. When introduced into the body, contrast media agents make certain structures or tissues in the body appear different. With this enhanced visibility of specific organs, blood vessels or tissues, contrast media agents help physicians diagnose medical conditions.

The Bracco range of contrast media agents covers all key diagnostic imaging modalities – X-Ray Imaging (including Computed Tomography-CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound.
