ANDREAS PAPAVASILIOU

Andreas Papavasiliou started his career in 1985 as a Sales Representative with Cire SA which at the time was the distributor for the Becton Dickinson products in Greece. In this position his primary area of focus was Flow Cytometry and Immunodiagnostics. In 1986 joined BioHellas SA, a company active in the clinical diagnostics field where he held the position of Area Manager.

In 1987 he joined the Gerolymatos Group as an Area Manager of the Diagnostics Division whose roster of partnerships at the time included distributorship agreements with world renowned companies active in the In Vito Diagnostics (IVD) market such as Biomerieux and Coulter Electronics (now Beckman Coulter). Three years later he was promoted to Sales Manager and held this position up until 1998 when he was promoted to General Manager. In this capacity he had direct oversight for Sales, Marketing, Technical Support & Service and Customer Service. Moreover, as a senior member of the Gerolymatos Group he was also involved in several strategic initiatives, including the 2001 acquisition of Biomedical SA, a company that was engaged in the marketing of Transfusion Technology products and Blood Collection Systems through its partnerships with Fresenius Kabi and Greiner respectively.

During his tenure as General Manager of the Gerolymatos Diagnostics Division, Andreas Papavasiliou played an instrumental role in building the business and securing leadership positions for its various franchises, including Beckman Coulter in the In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) market and Fresenius Kabi in the Transfusion Technology segment. In 2008 the Gerolymatos Group was acquired by Alapis and Andreas Papavasiliou continued as General Manager of the Diagnostics Division under the new ownership structure. In 2010 Alapis spun-off the Diagnostics Division to Medimeq SA where he continued to serve as General Manager up until his departure in early 2012.

In March 2012 Andreas Papavasiliou joined Leriva where he holds the position Business Unit General Manager, Diagnostics & Transfusion Technology.

Andreas Papavasiliou was born in Athens and is fluent in English. His professional career spans almost three decades and encompasses an array of management positions of increasing responsibility with leading local health care companies. He is a seasoned professional with extensive experience and a thorough knowledge of the local market. Andreas Papavasiliou holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
